OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh, former President of Uber India and South Asia, as its first Managing Director for India. The move highlights OpenAI’s growing focus on India, which the company considers its largest market outside the United States.

Singh is expected to join OpenAI in September and will oversee consumer growth, enterprise adoption, strategic partnerships, regulatory engagement, and business operations across the country.

The appointment comes as OpenAI continues expanding its presence in India. The company recently opened its New Delhi office and plans to establish additional offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru. OpenAI has also been actively building partnerships across education, enterprise technology, AI commerce, and cloud infrastructure.

India has become a key market for global AI companies due to its massive internet user base, thriving developer community, and increasing adoption of generative AI tools like ChatGPT.

Industry analysts view the leadership appointment as a strategic step that could help OpenAI strengthen its position in one of the world’s fastest-growing AI markets.
