Google is expanding its AI-powered health coaching platform by bringing continuous glucose data from Abbott’s Lingo wearable into the Google Health app.

Under a new multiyear agreement, Lingo users will be able to see glucose trends alongside information such as activity, sleep and other wellness data.

Google’s Health Coach, powered by Gemini, will use this information to provide personalized suggestions related to nutrition, activity, sleep and recovery.

Abbott Lingo Data Comes to Google Health

Lingo is an over-the-counter continuous glucose monitoring system designed for adults who don’t use insulin.

The wearable continuously tracks glucose levels and sends the information to the Lingo app. Users can see glucose readings and trends and understand how factors such as food and physical activity may relate to changes in glucose levels.

With the planned Google integration, this information will become another data source that can be viewed alongside other health and wellness information in the Google Health app.

Gemini Will Use Glucose Trends for Coaching

Google says Health Coach will combine Lingo glucose information with other available health data to provide more personalized guidance.

For example, the service could use information about sleep, activity and glucose trends when generating suggestions related to daily wellness.

However, Google emphasizes that Health Coach is not intended for medical use. AI-generated responses may also be incomplete or inaccurate, so users should verify important information and consult healthcare professionals when appropriate.

More Health Data Coming to Google Health

Google has been gradually expanding the amount of health information that can be connected to its platform.

The Google Health app can bring together information from compatible wearables, applications and health records. Users can also control which information they choose to share and manage their connected data.

The addition of continuous glucose information gives Google’s AI health platform another type of personal data to analyze.

Google and Abbott Plan a Metabolic Health Study

The companies also plan to conduct a large real-world study focused on metabolic health.

The research will combine continuous glucose measurements with wearable data, laboratory information and surveys. Researchers will examine relationships between areas such as activity, sleep, well-being and metabolic health.

Google and Abbott say the findings could help improve Health Coach and future Lingo features.

When Will the Integration Launch?

Google and Abbott expect the Lingo integration to begin rolling out in the Google Health app later in 2026.

The feature will add another layer of continuous health information to Google’s growing AI-powered health ecosystem.
