Meta has officially introduced a new lineup of AI-powered smart glasses called Meta Glasses, starting at $299. Developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the new wearable marks Meta’s first smart glasses released under its own brand instead of Ray-Ban or Oakley.

The glasses feature a built-in camera, open-ear speakers, and direct access to the Meta AI assistant through a dedicated button. Users can ask questions, get recommendations, translate conversations, and interact with AI hands-free throughout the day.

Meta says the device offers more than 8 hours of battery life, while the charging case extends usage up to 40 additional hours.

The company is launching several frame styles, including the Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury, and a fashion-focused Meta Glasses by Kylie collection created with Kylie Jenner.

Meta also announced upcoming support for pedestrian navigation and expanded live translation capabilities, including Hindi, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean.

The launch comes as competition in the smart glasses market intensifies, with companies increasingly combining AI assistants and wearable technology to create more immersive everyday experiences.

Why it matters:
Meta is making AI wearables more accessible with a lower price point, signaling its ambition to bring AI-powered smart glasses into the mainstream consumer market.
