SAP and Google Cloud have expanded their partnership to introduce a new AI-powered commerce architecture designed to automate marketing, customer engagement, and retail operations at enterprise scale.

The new platform combines SAP’s customer experience solutions with Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to help businesses deliver personalized shopping experiences, automate marketing campaigns, and improve inventory management in real time.

At the center of the initiative is the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), a framework that enables AI agents to interact directly with commerce systems, handling tasks such as product discovery, inventory checks, shopping cart management, and payment processing.

The platform also integrates Google Gemini AI models with SAP Commerce Cloud, allowing businesses to deploy AI shopping assistants that can provide personalized recommendations through text, voice, and chat interactions.

According to SAP, many organizations still struggle with disconnected customer data systems. The new architecture aims to unify customer information, marketing insights, and inventory data to create a more seamless customer experience.

The collaboration highlights a growing trend toward agentic AI systems, where intelligent software agents can make decisions and execute tasks autonomously across business operations.
