DHS Confirms Investigation Into HSIN Cyberattack

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that it is investigating a cybersecurity breach involving the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN), an internal platform used by federal, state, and local agencies to exchange intelligence and coordinate responses during emergencies.

According to reports, attackers gained unauthorized access to HSIN servers between late May and early June 2026. The exact amount of data affected has not yet been disclosed, and officials are still working to determine the full impact of the incident.

What Is HSIN?

HSIN is a secure information-sharing platform that helps government agencies collaborate during major public events, natural disasters, law enforcement operations, and national security incidents.

Although the platform mainly stores unclassified information, much of the shared data is considered highly sensitive because it supports emergency planning and intelligence coordination across the United States.

DHS Responds to the Incident
