Google has officially unveiled the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch with smarter Gemini AI, improved health tracking, better sleep monitoring and more accurate GPS.
Announced at the Made by Google 2026 event on August 12, the Pixel Watch 5 is designed to provide more personalized assistance directly from the wrist.
Smarter Gemini AI
Gemini is one of the biggest upgrades. Users can raise their wrist to ask questions, set timers, manage workouts, find places and get navigation help.
The watch can also surface useful information based on context, such as travel updates, estimated arrival times and reminders.
New Health Guardian Features
Google is introducing Health Guardian, a collection of new wellness and safety tools.
The Pixel Watch 5 can track long-term blood pressure patterns and insulin resistance trends using sensor data and machine learning. Google says the features are designed to help users understand changes over time rather than replace professional medical testing.
The watch also adds Breathing Emergency Detection, which can identify a persistent drop in oxygen saturation and, in supported regions, potentially contact emergency services during a suspected breathing emergency.
Better Sleep and Fitness Tracking
Google says sleep-stage tracking is 15% more accurate than the previous generation. The watch also adds Smart Wake and a new sleep breathing quality metric.
For fitness users, Google claims the Pixel Watch 5 delivers twice as accurate GPS route tracking compared with previous generations.
Performance and Battery
The Pixel Watch 5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform. Google says it delivers 12% more CPU performance, 50% more RAM and 20% faster overall performance.
Battery life reaches up to 40 hours, depending on the model and usage.
Pixel Watch 5 Price and Availability
The 41mm Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399, while the larger 45mm model starts at $429.
Preorders begin August 12, with the smartwatch scheduled to reach stores on August 20, 2026.
Note: Health and wellness features are intended for informational purposes and are not a substitute for professional medical advice.
